The deck of values is simply a deck of playing cards. But with a twist...
Each suit connects to symbolism that outlines a way of systemizing our values in society. Interestingly, enough, the triple bottom line can be easily recognized in every day symbols referring to people, planet and profits (and the product).
Hearts, clubs, and diamonds, and spades conveniently situate themes of human connection, environmental impact, economic skills as production possibilities.
Hearts
Hearts or social costs and benefits are seen in the suit of hearts. The reasons we value this
vehicle reach well beyond transportation itself.
Spades
Clubs or natural capital, and environmental values are portrayed in the suit of clubs.
Environmental cost show up in many ways, not least of which is emissions.
Diamonds
Diamonds showcase economic impact and the stem based professions which create value in
an economy. (We imagine the skill and precision required of a diamond cutter to create value in
a mere rock.)
Spades
Spades is a little more than a shovel, beckoning to a historic use fullness of agriculture and the
production they’re in. The product is characterized by spades, and we describe many parts and
versions of the product in this suit.
ELUV Challenge
The deck of values is intended as a passive way to understand this project, cope with our current transition from fossil fuel based economy to an EV market, and introduce the product in a way that makes sense of the project on many levels. We hope to make this gift available to those who donate to the project, as a means of supporting further research and development, as well as encouraging young people to see a
future where they can contribute and benefit from activity in our Monument shift to EV’s, and possibly even participate in our “ELUV challenge.”
